Job Title: Director of Elementary Curriculum, Instruction, Accountability & Assessment (ECIAA)

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, guidance, and support for the following Pre-K-to-5 (PK-5) programs: Elementary Literacy; Math, Science, Social Studies and other Curriculum; Elementary Instruction; Elementary Accountability & Elementary Assessment. This position assists with extensive curriculum and professional development, improving academic achievement, policy development and analysis, policy interpretation, and coordination of Carson City School District instructional programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Must understand the Learner-Centered process and related personalized learning frameworks.
- Ability to provide leadership district-wide for elementary curriculum, instruction, accountability, assessment and professional development initiatives.
- Provide direct support to elementary schools regarding all district-wide and state-wide assessment requirements.
- Oversee and provide leadership to the district’s classroom technology integration initiative.
- Oversee, monitor and provide leadership to the Pre-K district’s grants that affect the elementary level.
- Assists and works collaboratively with the district Directors’ team to support school-wide and district-wide initiatives pertaining to PK-5 curriculum, instruction and assessments for all programs, including, but not limited to: GATE, English Language Learner and Special Education.
- Understanding of data collection and analysis for planning, including the use of technology systems.
- Support the development of school administrators as instructional leaders through coaching and supervision.
- Must understand the general scope of the Nevada Educational Performance Framework (NEPF).
- Provide programming for increasing student achievement.
- Implementation of curricular design, standards, and benchmarks that support the achievement of grade-level academic standards.
- Experience in facilitating district-wide changes in policies to enhance service deliveries for students.
- Knowledge and ability to develop and review division/department policies and procedures.
- Program development with state and school personnel.
- Understanding of federal and state legislation and District policies related to academic content, accountability and achievement standards, as they apply to all students.
- Direct supervision and evaluation of PK-5 programs.
- Interaction with District, administration, all schools, parents, and community-based agencies.
- Knowledge of the District budgetary processes, including developing and monitoring assigned budgets.
- Represent the District at local, state, and national meetings.
- Coordinates the selection of membership for textbook/curriculum committees in cooperation with principals and administrators and textbook/curriculum selection and adoption.
- Knowledge of personnel matters, school and central office operations, budget, and parent and community involvement.
- Knowledge of District needs pertaining to curriculum and professional development.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
- Current national research on curriculum and professional development topics and issues.
- Serves as a member of the Superintendent’s cabinet.
- Participate in school board meetings.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Training:
- Preferred: an earned Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Curriculum and Instruction or Administration - or commensurate experience with elementary school reform or transformation.
- An earned Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in school administration.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Preferred: Nevada School Administrative license, and/or valid teaching license.
- A valid driver’s license that allows the applicant/employee to legally operate a motor vehicle in Nevada.
Experience:
- Preferred: Three (3) years of successful school administrative experience; and/or at least five (5) years of successful, licensed teaching experience and at least three (3) years as an instructional leader in an accredited K-12 public, charter, or private school; or commensurate experience with elementary school reform or transformation.
- Preferred: Five (5) years of licensed staff supervision.
